Dentures are not a substitute for teeth; they are a substitute for no teeth. Partials are used to replace multiple missing teeth with a single, removable appliance. Because dentures and partials can be unsatisfactory due to slipping or by putting pressure on the gums, both have limitations, but serve as excellent transitional or temporary appliances for implant or other fixed therapy.
